Miguel Sapochnik said something like that action/hacking each other with swords can only take the audience so far as people might grow tired of constant action. I suppose, there will be moments between characters to talk about. We know about Jon/Dany away from the battle, Varys/Tyrion in the crypts, possible Sansa too. More to come.

Are there gonna be any talking screens in this ep I wonder? I want a Jaime/Jon scene Of course. From the promo the action clearly doesn't start immediately and we have several non-combatant characters who will not be ignored because they won't be fighting. I think this episode is going to be Blackwater on steroids.

Yeah I remember seeing this in an interview, how an hour of hack-and-slash needed some downtime to keep people's attention and focus so he takes the scenes up and down between the action and dialogue which is fantastic and we've seen him do this with the Hardhome and BoB battles as well. I just don't know if I can handle all that's to come in this episode. I'm terrified!

That bit about episodes 3, 4 and 5 being like one long movie is interesting. I wonder if it means the Long Night is resolved at the end of the fifth episode? Los Siete Reinos reported that a couple of characters would fight the dead in episode 4, so this would make sense.

I wonder if we'll get a winter montage of the dead swarming the kingdoms or something to that effect? We know we're going to see Highgarden again, which is odd if it's not for a montage because I don't see any of the characters going there. We're getting Dragonstone and likely the Iron Islands. Nymeria's wolf pack is in the Riverlands so it's safe to say we're heading back there at some point. So it's not much of a stretch to add brief shots of Highgarden/The Vale/the Stormlands.

Well, that dragon shot is easily the coolest-looking dragon shot I've seen. And pretty terrifying. I wonder how Dany will handle the battle. Emotionally she's not exactly in the best place right now and I think those kind of things will be reflected in the battle.
And yes, the hype is real. "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" made my top 5 of all-time. If this is another all-timer, well... this show is going out with a bang.

"A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" made my top 5 of all-time. If this is another all-timer, well... this show is going out with a bang. Considering Sapochnik talked about combining elements of genres, there will obviously be a great deal of emotions among the characters. From the Northern perspective, they could start to respect Dany once they see her in action trying to save their people. I think when Dany witnesses the deaths of some closest to her and the destruction of her armies and the Stark's home is burning, it might change her mindset on the Iron throne quite a bit. I think you're right that the Long Night will be resolved in the south and not at WF and after everything that follows this battle in the last 3 episodes, it becomes more about rebuilding everything they've lost and a new beginning for Westeros and not so much about the political game.

I'm also excited about potential callbacks to "Blackwater" for Tyrion (daring to fight), the Hound (fear of fire) and Sansa (the dignity with which she handled it all back then).

I love how when contemplating his directing duties he told them he could either do eps in S7 or S8 but not both. It's insane what kind of physical commitment is required to do episodes like this. Also puts into perspective just how much D&D pour into this, considering they have essentially lived and breathed every aspect of the production since Day 1 and are on set for EVERYTHING. These guys deserve to get to go to sleep for like a year when this is all done.

So do we think Beric will give the "kiss of life" to anyone or is that book-only?

More likely be Gendry since Beric owes him a debt for selling him to Mel and Stannis when he wanted to join the Brotherhood and Joe filmed in seville. I guess it could be Arya if they want to test the audience's emotions more.
