Maybe that's how Euron was able to build a thousand ships. He was working with Cersei the entire time off screen in S6 and all the trees were used to build his fleet. Try explaining the missing hills and mountains then. They were there in S7 if you look at the right side of this photo. Edit: I'm at a loss with this though.

Edit: I'm at a loss with this though. I know some people are probably making a bigger deal out of this than others feel is necessary, and a lot of joking is going on about how they made it look (yeah where were the trees??) but I do have to say, even on my rewatch it felt wrong. The set piece itself wasn't actually that terrible but the surrounding terrain was BAD and felt like they were in the wastelands of Essos again. Couldn't they have found a little better spot to plop down the fake wall and film that? I don't expect it to be green like the photo alcasinoroyale posted - it IS winter, afterall, or even close to the gorgeous aerial photo someone put up as a comparison to what we got, but ffs at least TRY to make the background look like the surrounding area outside King's Landing, not a bleak dirt field? It detracted from a very tense/drama important moment that broke the immersion in the world for me.

It's the outside of a set made with a big King's Landing street and Red Keep inside it. They made it right by the Paint Hall IIRC. So it'll be in the next episode too. But yeah I guess they could have astroturfed the ground or something. Maybe because it's winter the grass died? But they had their reasons for picking the spot production-wise, so hopefully the upsides of shooting at a man-made set in NI rather than at a medieval city wall in Croatia outweigh the negatives.

Since i’m late this has probably been discussed already to death. But the fucking Iron Fleet was beyond ridiculous, and the “Dany forgot about the Iron Fleet” reasoning even moreso...they literally brought it up in the war council she just left! And how in Grimm’s name did she not see such a big ass fleet from her dragons anyway? I mean this isnt a new issue since apparently they also hid from Asha back in Season 7 so maybe they just activate cloaking device when they first leavd Kings Landing, who the fuck knows at this point. There was much i disliked about this episode but i’ll just leave that because...ugh. But the Iron Fleet thing doesnt feel like an irrational/emotional critique. Also Arya is so obviously giving the Hound the gift of mercy after their conversation. How anyone can still be rooting for the Starks after this episode

What bothers me the most is how empty the world looks outside those walls. No house, no farms, not even a road. KL looks as remote and isolated as Winterfell, with the atmosphere of Qarth.

Not sure if you're teasing? Yara Greyjoy is Asha Greyjoy in the books.

If we forget about logic, this artistic choice to make KL look dull might serve some purpose. Could be to showcase how grim and lifeless the place is after years of mayhem in Westeros.

I think they just needed this gate for plot reasons, but it was too expensive to build houses around it.

You know I’m pretty indifferent to Brienne but I have to say her running after Jaime out in the cold with her fucking bathrobe on BEGGING him to say and crying ugly tears have me so much second hand embarrassment I’m pretty sure my soul floated out of my body.
I get that she loves Jaime but that scene felt like a betrayal to her character and also was such a regression after her knighthood moment. It was also just pure melodrama and something out of a soap opera, she gets dicked down a few times and she becomes this crying blubbering hysterical mess begging him to stay? Goddamn that was yikes.
