Ten.
Fucking brilliant. The brutality of war. Character dynamics. The horror of dragons. CLEGANEBOWL. Beautiful ending to two of the one of the best characters we've had... truly great.

Yeah, the execution of it all was brilliant, and CLEGANEBOWL finally happened and I'm so happy for it. Loved the portrayal of the brutality of war and I was also very moved by Tyrion and Jaime's farewell. But at the same time, WTF Dany??? Attacking the Red Keep directly would've made sense, but why the fuck are you burning every single street in KL? If I watched this straight after season 5 without having seen seasons 6 and 7, I would've thought it was Ramsay riding that dragon

I went with 10 but might knock a point off in subsequent watches over the twins.

Ditto @roose I never would have believed it was possible to so realistically show the devastation of war, and it was done beautifully, brilliantly. The intersperses of slow motion, like a dance, a horrific dance. And the music ... the faint Light of the Seven when Jaime and Cersei were down in the bottom of the Red Keep getting buried, and at one point there was even the faint echo of the Stark theme when Arya was getting up. The horror of it all. Dany, the Mad Queen.
Uh ... forgot to add 10, obviously.

Yeah it's a 10, I don't even need a rewatch this time Visually it was spot on and the music was used so well.

10.
Brilliant. Dany loses the plot sometimes when her blood is up, we know, but she is nuclear armed and this is what can happen to a person who is becoming unhinged and is used to being worshipped by her followers. Revenge indeed.
Jon needs to kill her next episode. Fiery bints distributing blood is no basis for a system of government.

OK, changed it to a 7 now that I reflected on how much worse I expected it to be. CLEGANEBOWL alone is worth 2 points.

Ten. Don't even need a rewatch. They defeated one apocalyptic weapon. But now they face another. Sapochnik is a god.

can't believe what i just saw how is this a television show
i understand the wishes for more episodes and to rush it a little less, but i accepted when this was announced years ago that it would be a little speedy and that has helped me to not care too much about it. if there was more fleshing out, that would be great, but they still did a really good job of telling us this was coming for years in moments we were meant to celebrate. only thing i didn't like that much was the white horse thing but better that than arya being dead tbh

I’ll hold off on rating for now until I can gather my thoughts more, and maybe do a rewatch. I almost feel like I need a separate rating for Sapochnik and one for D&D. There’s no denying it was one of, if not the most visually impressive episodes of the entire show, but the writing was shoddy at best, imo. The bells made no fucking sense, and should have been handled much better considering the importance to the story of what that scene represented. Was underwhelmed by Cersei and Jaime’s death too if I’m being perfectly honest. They really kept Lena around too long. Cersei should have been dealt with as soon as Dany landed in Westeros and the entire final season could have been devoted to the NK and Dany.

Yep having the two last battle episodes showcase the horror, might, and monstrosity of the two different but still so similar magical forces of nature was a nice touch.
