I read the plot summary for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and I thought it was like really bad fanfiction. Honestly, what I read was extremely bad and I know some of you agreed. But the reviews for the actual play are through the roof. This is... confusing.

This was on the news this morning. I am curious about it, though I have to say that the series really felt complete to me. I am just not sure I want to see them as adults.

This is fun! Too bad they didn't mention the German translation at all, which is pretty good overall. One thing they changed is the name of the second book, Chamber of Secrets became Chamber of Horrors. I think they probably did that because "Kammer der Schreckens" sounds better and it rolls off the tongue easier than "Kammer der Geheimnisse". Most of the names are the same, except Hermione, who is called Hermine in the German version. To me, she'll always be Hermine. Tom Riddle's middle name became Vorlost (Tom Vorlost Riddle > ist Lord Voldemort). O.W.L.s and N.E.W.T.s are called ZAG (Allgemeiner Zauberergrad) and UTZ (Unheimlich Toller Zauberer) in Germany, which is kinda lame. It doesn't mean anything, and it's not particuarly clever either. It's a pretty lazy and uninspired translation.

So I read Cursed Child and Albus and Scorpius are totally gay for each other. It's adorable, really. And there's nothing Jo could say to convince me otherwise.

The best part of Cursed Child for me was the duel between Draco and Harry, when they were throwing first year spells like Rictusempra and Flipendo at each other.

Generally I think reading the play was a better experience than just reading the leaked plot. But tbh it's still a huge mess and has a lot of really bad "WTF"-moments. It really has not a good plot at all. However, I just completely fell in love with Albus and Scorpius. The mere fact that Harry Potter's son is a Slytherin is hilarious and his friendship with Scorpius is adorable. Tbh, I lowkey wish that Jo had just written a new book series and called it "Albus Potter and [insert book title]" instead of doing this. It would have been a chance for her to bring Harry Potter into the year 2016, including a proper representation of different ethnic groups and sexual orientations. It seems to me that this is something she deeply cares about, but just missed the opportunity to include it when she wrote the original books. Anyway, seeing Cursed Child on stage would be really cool. Look, it's Albus and Scorpius with Hermione.

There were some individual scenes and characters that I really liked, but the overarching plot was horrendous, and I hated how some of the original character were portrayed, Harry and especially Ron, who apparently has become the Jar Jar Binks of the Harry Potter universe. Biggest WTF-moment: the trolley witch is an immortal demon from hell. Seriously, how high were they when they came up with this shit?

I still think the originally series has a lot of diversity, when you compare it with most other children/young adult literature. Which I appreciated when I first read it.

Or rather Sam Clemmett, who is 23 years old so I shouldn't feel weird for saying this, but I do. Well, nice arms indeed.

I've been re-reading these books recently, and I have to vent..I hate Steve Kloves. I always have, he's a shit screen writer, but I'm on Chamber of Secrets now and I completely forgot it was Ron who explained what a Mudblood was to Harry and Hermione, and in the movie Hermione explained it herself. Why did Kloves give so many of Ron's great lines to Hermione?! It's bad enough "If you want to kill Harry you'll have to kill us too" went to her in Azkaban.

Exactly. It makes more sense to have Ron explain it. But Kloves likes to deprive Ron of all his moments where he's not being daft.
