Here's a better solution as I repeat myself for the billionth time. They can do both, one season of Dunk and Egg, one season of RR, etc. There is no reason to fight over this. And we don't even know what are they planning yet, the spinoffs are still in early development. So let's wait and see before we pass judgment. Lot easier to judge a story I already know. Just saying...

Eva Green as Rhaenyra Dan Stevens as Aegon Helen McCrory as Alicent
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

There are a ton of possibilities for series just going off of all those videos in general.

If they did TPatQ my vote for Rhaenyra would be Charlize Theron.

I'm sure HBO will be throwing money at this, but maybe not that much. Besides the dragons though, there's nothing particularly fantastical about it, so maybe they won't need as much money from other things. They'd be reusing most of the sets from the original show, so that might save money, maybe? Idk.

I would like to see Doom of Valyria on screen. It is such a mysterious event and there is lot of stuff that happens before the Doom. Callousness of dragon riders, involvement of Faceless Men, politics of Valyria etc all makes for a good TV. Also there is plenty of opportunity for eye candy in every sense including valyria itself, beautiful women in exotic dresses, dragons.

Also there is plenty of opportunity for eye candy in every sense including valeria itself, beautiful women in exotic dresses, dragons. This I would watch, RR and D&E I would pass. We already know about RR, what happened and how, it would feel like receiving a postcard from a city we visited a thousand times, plus I find that the most interesting parts of RR are the consequences and those we saw in GoT. D&D just doesn't appeal to me. Personal taste. i wouldn't mind a sequel, set into the future just for the kick of hearing the current characters being mentioned around like legends. There are many lands to explore, I mostly wish for something different than Westeros. And there have to be Targaryens, the lore around them is what I find more interesting. Even another family from Valyria that escaped the Doom and ended somewhere else would do. As long as there are Dragons involved.

As long as there are Dragons involved. Precisely. Targs could serve as POVs along with few other families. Incidently, Targs were not a major house in Valyria. So from their perspective, we can see the day to day life in Valyria and not just the high level politics. Also, we can see the dynamics of a society where incest is the norm and not considered a taboo. Incest is such a potent catalyst of events within ASOIAF, imagine how far events can twisted and turned in Valyria where it is commonplace. We can also see how a non-major status of Targs shaped their approach for the future after the doom. The series would have a finite ending, meaning it will not turn into a soap opera. The Doom can be the big finale and the end would be Aegon sailing towards westeros along with his sister-wives. There is so much they can show.

Would people get behind a show told solely from the perspective of slavers though? I certainly don't need likeable characters in everything, hell some of my favorite movies and shows have none or next to none, but Idk about watching a bunch of slavers fly around and oppress people and make them work in mines.

Idk about watching a bunch of slavers fly around and oppress people and make them work in mines That would be exactly what can lead to the whole drama. The POV of arrogance and self-centric slavers can be offset by POV of the downtrodden and oppressed.

The POV of arrogance and self-centric slavers can be offset by POV of the downtrodden and oppressed. It would also be insanely hard to do. I'm not even sure a live action TPatQ would work, and that's only like a dozen dragons. A Doom of Valyria show you'd need hundreds. I feel like the locations and sets would have to be heavily cgi too. Valyria in its height of power would need to make Westeros look like a cow town. Look at this place:

Eh. Not really excited about this. Well at the very least, it's a big win for us in these forums though. I'm a nerd here - I'd like to a see anthology season or two on some smaller houses in the same time period of the show. You could re-introduce some of the characters from the saga and make it work with the chronology. Make the struggle close to home and not same the grander plot.
