This was a beautiful episode and I felt it was a tribute to these characters we've grown to love. I have this sinking feeling we're going to be saying goodby to a number of them next week. I don't have good feelings about the survival of Jorah, Grey Worm, Pod (I hope Brienne knights him before it is all over...she can now, you know)Theon, Beric, Tormund and Edd may be goners too. Brienne's survival may be in danger as well. I have the scary feeling that at least one of these characters will rise up with blue eyes and try to take out the living...what if whatever was chasing Arya in the promo was someone she knows?
I think the main cast will be safe for another week.
As far as the scenes...I'm still tearing up whenever I think of Jaime knighting Brienne...which also makes me afraid she won't survive. Both Stark sisters are safe and she's a knight... "and if you think this story has a happy ending...you haven't been paying attention." Gwendoline was at her best and that smile at the end was so real. That's the first real smile I can remember Brienne smiling.
I loved the Sansa/Theon scene. No romance in my opinion. Just shared emotions resulting from a horrifying experience between two people who consider each other family. He's been accepted back by the Starks (probably not Arya) so his time is probably up.
The Bran and Jaime scene was good too. NCW knocked it out of the part this episode...some of his best work.
Arya and Gendry...Well, I'm a shipper on the show, so this was gratifying. (I do not think that they will be together in the books though...even though there was the Bobby B quote about sons and daughters)It was very much in character for Arya...she wouldn't play around with long, lingering looks and chaste kisses...she'd want to get on with the important stuff right away. It was rushed and messy and very much in keeping with a life or death battle looming just heartbeats away.
I think there will be less conflict between Jon and Darnerys than it appears. The writers like to make us think one thing, but it end up something else. I believe they will come to terms during this battle and Jon will step aside for her to have the throne...if there is an Iron Throne in the end.
All in all, it was a heartfelt tribute to the characters and world we have come to love. They are all alive and cherishing each other...just as we should. Everything changes next week.

It was rushed and messy and very much in keeping with a life or death battle looming just heartbeats away. This is how I felt about it too after I got over my initial shock of seeing everyone's 'little girl' all grown up and having sex, haha! Arya's very direct and less chatty now, which was pointed out by Sandor up on the wall in the scene before. She's changed, and she gets right to the point - which is exactly what she did with Gendry! "Stick 'em with the pointy end" and all that. I think there will be less conflict between Jon and Darnerys than it appears. The writers like to make us think one thing, but it end up something else. I believe they will come to terms during this battle and Jon will step aside for her to have the throne...if there is an Iron Throne in the end. As I just said in another post, they've gotten really good at dragging this drama out for 2 seasons and down to the wire, each episode now. It's done entirely to torment the general audience. I've learned to stop listening to most of the rabble about this topic. Death is at our door and we have to all make it through next week which is going to tear our hearts out.

Really lovely episode, so full of great character moments, this is the reason I loved the series in the first place.
I was worried for a moment Briennes 'knighting' might look like they were taking the piss but it played out beautifully. Jaime so noble and honest, Briennes innocence and acceptance, her little grin at the end, the timing of the spontaneous round of applause from everyone else. A ceremony more genuine than anything Meryn Trant or Janos Slynt ever had.
So many other things, Pods song, Tyrion being Tyrion, Tyrion and Jaime, Sansa and Theon, Sansa and Dany.
All good.

Made me love Jaime for the first time (his refusal to apologize for past deeds followed by the sheer nobility of his gesture towards Brienne... those are the kind of contradictions I love). Brienne, Sansa, Davos, Tormund, Theon were all at their very best. It was this beautifully written vigil. This was an episode of great unity and shared memory, except for the two main characters at the center of it all, the only ones who seem to be moving apart from each other. Which gives the episode an edge and an instability I thought was really well-done.

I think you may be right - I just hope it's not ... a Stark, particularly ... I think there will be less conflict between Jon and Darnerys than it appears. . . . I believe they will come to terms during this battle I agree! Even though Jon has always accepted duty/leadership when thrust upon him, I think sitting the IT (which I actually don't really think will be there in the end) is the last thing in the world he'd want to do, whereas Dany has already been ruling for quite a number of years now. I do think she needs 'balance', or 'tempering' at times, though, and Jon, as well as Tyrion, would have this positive aspect to add. ETA: Ser Barristan Selmy was wonderful in this role before. (I miss him! He's the one who taught Dany about Rhaegar singing and donating money, which she quotes to Jon in the crypts.)

My favourite part of the episode. Welch is incredible. i wanted to like this episode more than i did. I thought it was good, amd some of the scenes were fantadtic but as a whole...i found myself bored at times. I really didn’t want to but i was bored. I appreciated the excellent acting and dialogue though and most of the individual scenes. Maybe it was just how it was structured? I don’t know.

I really the vibe that’s kind of like the calm before the storm. This was a lot of people just kind of resigning themselves to likely death, and how they each handle it.

I’ve seen some real gems this morning from the Dany haters, including that she will stage a RW type massacre to kill Jon and Sansa after the battle, and that she will willingly become the NQ because she’s so upset about Jon’s reveal. Talk about clutching at straws in the final hours.

I really the vibe that’s kind of like the calm before the storm. This was a lot of people just kind of resigning themselves to likely death, and how they each handle it. I believe it was Cogman that said “This episode is really a love letter to the characters," - which is a really endearing thing to say knowing many of these characters won't make it beyond the next episode. Each of them was given some proper closure the night before the great war. Whether it was Arya wanting to experience sex for the first time (awkward!), Sansa and Theon quietly enjoying some soup surrounded by the bustle of people, or sweet Sam, Little Sam and Gilly curled up together ... each person spent the last hours in a way that was right for them. Of course, the drinking party around the hearth was the best of all.

Can we take a appreciation for the small moment with Bran and Tyrion. Not only Tyrion is the only person who isn't all creep out by him and is willing to listen to him, but it's a nice call back to the first season where Tyrion shows some concern for Bran and even said: "I hope the boy does wake, I'd be very interested to hear what he has to say"
