I am not as big of fan of Dany as they are but I imagine this hurts a lot. This is not some ice zombie we have little to no emotions or attachment to. Dany, on the other hand, we've grown to admire or like or love or appreciate. We all embark on this epic journey to see it fall right on the finish line. This is supposed to feel like a victory but it is more of a defeat for Dany and she knew that when the rang. I would say it's a perfect analogy to Ned's beheading, Red Wedding. Ned made mistakes and ended paying the ultimate price. Robb and his family made mistakes and paid the price. Dany made a mistake and she'll pay the price. Moral of the story is power corrupts people, war is dirty, death is ever-present and people are flawed. It does hurt a lot! I've sported my wolf/dragon forum image for years and years now because I believed in the merging of Jon and Daenerys whether that was just as a family or as a couple. Long before that I was a firm believer in R+L=J and felt it was a central key important theme of the story - again what my 'sigil' stood for, the merging of ice and fire to create a better world. But that's not what we're getting at all and it does hurt. Doesn't mean it wasn't beautiful and terrifying, and heart-pumping and all of that. Because it was... I'm not so bad off I can't admit that. I'm just really shell-shocked from the rapid turn of events especially with Daenerys going from what I thought she was, to what she's become in just a few episodes. That was too fast for me. I would buy it more if they've done long-term build up to it with clear signs because up until episode 4 it was very unconvincing that she'll go mad or snap in such a way. Being ruthless is not exactly the same thing as being mad but here we are. I am more of Jon, Arya, Jorah fan as you can tell and I felt most of all Jon and Arya emotions of utter dismay, shell-shock, disbelief, and sadness at how that escalated into absolute mayhem. I'm glad poor Ser Jorah is dead because his heart would break if he saw Dany doing what she was doing.

So much for Varys having a few final tricks up his sleeve. Holy fuck was he useless post-KL. They really wasted his character when I think back to how good he was with LF and others in earlier seasons. He did absolutely NOTHING after 610. I guess his big final move was trying to have one of his little birds poison Dany. Pretty lame.

A lot of people always said he was the real outcome of ice and fire and the song played out before his birth. Rooting for Ned Stark and having him die at the end of the first season is one thing... but rooting for Daenerys for 8 seasons to have her lose everything in the last season is an entirely different thing altogether and a pretty bitter pill to swallow. I do love Jon. I'll be shocked if he does end up surviving it all as I always pegged him to be the one to go after his resurrection. This cannot be a happy ending for him either though. The sad, reluctant ruler, or no ruler at all. I'm not sure what's worse.

Song of ice and fire is about these two destructions. WW and dragons that came to destroy that world.
Imo.

I am beginning to believe that the song of Ice and Fire is simply the story of....Jon. I always thought it's Dany and Jon given what Mel said how she brought Ice and Fire together, Weiss and Benioff, even GRRM told them this is basically the tale about these two characters to a large extent. Now that I think of it, it could be also about Jon or it's the tale of two destructive forces of White Walkers and Dany with her dragons colliding, coming to Westeros. It sure as hell looks that way now that both of them are a threat to everyone. Maybe it's all of this.

Mel wasn't entirely wrong even if the ice and fire forces were Daenerys and The Night King. It's looking more like a symbolic mish-mash of all of that with Jon in the middle sort of getting thrashed around between the two forces destroying the world.

a couple of my friends started getting bitchy when i told them that i thought dany's character followed a pretty logical arc so i wrote up a quick blog post about it if anyone would like to read: astormofsports.wordpress.com/2019/05/13/game-of-thrones-this-is-daenerys/i have to sleep but if anybody has any thoughts i'd love to hear them and respond in the morning

I am beginning to believe that the song of Ice and Fire is simply the story of....Jon. Yes, that's becoming more apparent now. The sad, reluctant ruler, or no ruler at all. I'm not sure what's worse. He'll survive. Really can't see him dying now because death would too simple, easy for him knowing Weiss, Benioff, GRRM. He'll be miserable knowing all of it went to shit, all that he fought for means nothing, nothing changed. Very much doubt Jon will be ruling over that place or in any mood to do so. I think he has had enough of everyone including Northerners and will go either Beyond the Wall or form the new Night's Watch. Honestly, Kit wasn't kidding when he said Jon was happiest with the wildlings, Ygritte, Tormund Beyond the Wall. it could be also about Jon or it's the tale of two destructive forces of White Walkers and Dany with her dragons colliding, coming to Westeros. Mel wasn't entirely wrong even if the ice and fire forces were Daenerys and The Night King. It's looking more like a symbolic mish-mash of all of that with Jon in the middle sort of getting thrashed around between the two forces destroying the world. You might be onto something. In retrospective, Dany and Night King share few parallels, not just the way they dress, that weird symbol of theirs looked like a Targaryen sigil, certain cinematic choices, can't burn. Maybe they both have to die or she might be his replacement? That Dany = Night Queen theory that is floating around.

I also want to know where was Yara and her folks, and the new Prince of Dorne who pledged his allegiance to Dany.
