Seems like Cersei was just completely banking on Dany’s good morality. She was never expecting her to snap like that...and who can blame her cuz we weren’t either lol I figured that Dany would burn KL, but never to this extent. If we forget about what D&D have said, is there enough in the series to show that her snapping like this and burning innocence makes sense. Unless it's just people fuck up and logic disappears in that moment because they're human. Maybe Dany realized they would never support her if they had no desire to overthrow Cersei, but at some point Dany had to have an idea who she was burning. It wasn't just Cersei's soldiers, it was the people she would have ruled. Yeah it’s one thing if Dany just burned some civilians in order to rush to kill cersei this was FULL ON calculated genocide

it was mass murder, but genocide means something more specific than that.

That’s just it though, she’s at times been cruel, and ruthless, and hot tempered, but she’s never been stupid. And burning the entire city was definitely that. There’s no coming back from that. Which she would obviously understand.

Which she would obviously understand. Her paranoia at the beginning of the episode really reminded me of Cersei in AFFC. we should have seen more of that paranoia in like 2 or 3 more episodes. So her snapping would have felt more natural and compelling we only saw like 2 minutes of it

I really don’t think it could have been handled much worse.

Missandei being brutally murdered?

Because that’s not at all how I interrupted that scene. Jon’s rejection was the last straw that made her snap.

A lot happened before that, which means that not much was needed to push her over the edge. Loss (Missandei, Jorah, Rhaegal, large part of her army), betrayal (Varys and Tyrion to some extent) and rejection (Jon, Sansa, Arya, the people of Westeros) had a strong effect on her psyche. Jon's rejection was as you said the last straw.

Weiss said that Dany wanted to make it personal. If she wanted to do that she would fly directly to Red Keep and torch Cersei and Lannisters, they could show her killing in the process all innocent people Cersei locked in the Keep if the purpose was to make her look evil. Burning Kings Landing street by street has nothing to do with making this personal couse Cersei never ever cared about peasants lol.
It's obvious that they wanted to make Dany look over the top evil to justifie her murderer in the next episode. They could even add villain mustache on her face if they would ever care to show her after the "Bells". But I guess that was another way to dehumanize her by making her faceless killing machine.
Maybe in next episode they will show her crucife some children becouse why not. After all being Targaryen and the daughter of Aerys is sufficient explanation and justification of everything going by D&D mumblings in bts bits.

Jon's rejection was as you said the last straw. I never said the show didn’t give any other reasons, but that was the big one in this episode. Varys betraying her was a foregone conclusion and definitely not enough to make her do something as severe as she did. In this episode, in the 2 minutes belle mentioned, it was the scene with Jon that we were shown directly before the massacre took place.

Sounds like you're agreeing that a lot of things contributed to this and it wasn't just Jon refusing to bone her as you suggested up thread.
