Maybe Robert would have had a hunting accident much earlier in life.

The drug analogy does make sense when you link it to the word "toxic" which is about the best description of Cersei and Jaime's relationship. They both enabled each other and often encouraged each of their worst instincts. Jaime clearly was able to see a path into being a better person when he was not around Cersei but the familiarity and their bond was too strong to overcome. It's an interesting exercise to think about what Cersei would have become if Jaime wasn't there from the start. if there was no Jaime, Cersei would be Tywin’s heir probably.

She still would have been rotten. Normal children don’t torture their siblings.

I don't know. I like that we may all have our perceptions of the Jaime/Cersei bond and how "toxic" it is but ultimately their final scenes suggest there was something about it we will never even begin to understand. Something closed off to outsiders so to speak. So I'm not about to judge them. I wouldn't even know where to start. If there's anything certain about the scene, it's that they weren't faking anything for once in their lives.
Jaime's tragic flaw had nothing to do with Cersei as I see it. His self-loathing followed him everywhere, even Winterfell. And Cersei's flaws acted independently of whatever Jaime was doing at any given time.
Did they bring out the worst in each other? Again, that's debatable. One might just as easily say they made each other stronger (for good or bad) up to their last scene.

She still would have been rotten. Normal children don’t torture their siblings. Or throw their friends down wells/leave hem to die down a well (delete preferred version of events as appropriate)

I'm curious what Cersei and Jaime's reactions would have been to Jon being the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna.

I think Jaime’s arc in TWOW will be really messy. His encounter with Stoneheart will be a rollercoaster for his arc imo. obviously Cersei in KL should be thrilling too, the sand snakes and Myrcella are arriving, there’s her trial and stuff with the faith and tyrells. And faegon. i think Cersei will leave KL and go to Casterly rock at the end of twow i wanna read it ALL so badly 😭

Such a shame they didn't find out ... and the person I would really have loved to have found out is Catelyn! Actually sad that she spent all those years in angst over what she thought was the truth when it wasn't the truth at all.
