Dany's clearest moral position in the story was anti-slavery. Tell me how do you compromise with the institution of slavery? That's some really dark stuff. If you read ADwD, you will see that Dany has to wrestle with compromise on more than just slavery. But how do you compromise with the institution slavery itself? You either accept the forced physical and sexual labor of men, women and children for profit, or you don't. If you want to argue for some kind of middle ground here, I don't know what to tell you.

D&D never said that that scene wasn't rape. Because it was adaptation of rape from the books. It was comment by director Alex Graves. And the fact that he was never asked to return to GoT after doing 4 eposodes in S4 tells enough about what D&D thought of that comment he gave.

This episode was submitted for best writing. Unsurprising but i think its a poor choice. Not just because i hate the episode though, it just seems that even among those who did enjoy it, there were still lots of questions and comments about the writing being a bit meh

This episode was submitted for best writing. I mean I hope they're at least nominated, if only because I like reading the PDF scripts that are downloadable on the Emmy site. But yeah, any of their other scripts this season would probably stand a better chance. But who knows.

I don't think that GoT will win Emmy for writing but I think "The Iron Throne" will be nominated.
I think GoT still has strong support from Academy and they will win Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series because people from industry know how hard it is to produce show on this level of production for such a long time.
If Kits gets nomination that will show that GoT is unbeatable this year. With Kit's nomination I wouldn't be surprised if they even win Emmy for writing because nominating Kit for Lead actor will show that Academy has really high level of support for GoT.
But as for now, last year will repeat and I think Peter will win again and GoT will get their Outstanding Drama Emmy.
I'm not sure about Direction, because I expect both Miguel and D&D to be nominated so they will split votes.
In Supp Actress category I except to see Lena, Maisie and one more GoT actress(Sophie and Gwen), but they will split votes. Lena deserves that Emmy for her entire work on the show, but I think this was one of Maisie's strongest seasons so she deserves for this year. But I don't think anyone from GoT will win.
Emilia will be nominated for Lead Actress as well. This was her best season and with her story about personal struggles I think she will get that nomination.
I expect that GoT will get a lot of Creative Emmys like last year.

All I want to see is Emilia win one. Don’t care about the rest.

All I want to see is Emilia win one. Don’t care about the rest. Agreed. Wouldnt object to Nikolaj. In fact acting wise i am fine with most of the cast getting noms, and potentially winning depending who they are up against. except Kit and Dink, but my feelings on them should be well known by now

I would love to see Emilia win, but I don't think it will happen. Ladies from Killing Eve seem to be front-runners.
But nomination will be great succes for her. GoT never had actors nominated in Lead category.

I think all the submitted actors (Kit, Emilia, Nik, Lena, Peter, Sophie and Maisie) are all expected to make it at the minute. But it's the emmys so you never know lol.

Also, Emilia smashed it this year so if she won I'd be happy. But I doubt she defeats Sandra Oh.

I don't think Kit is that expected tbh. He wasn't nominated last year and I don't think he was better this season.
It's also interesting who will be nominated for Direction. I expect Miguel for sure. David Nutter is former winner and has great reputation. Similar to Jeremy Podeswa who was nominated for 506 even if internet hated that episode.
But for some reason I expect that Benioff and Weiss have stronger chances to get that nomination. Especially since they had very strond director of photography who already won 3 Emmys in the past.
We will see. So I expect Miguel and either D&D or Nutter.
I don't expect to see 3 episodes nominated for direction. That never happened with GOT. If that happens that will, together with Kit's nomination, show really really high support from the Academy. So I don't think that will be the case.
If GoT doesn't get Writing nomination I think there is real chance that they won't get Drama Series. But I don't see how episodes like Battle of the Bastards and Mother's Mercy deserved not only nomination but victory as well but The Iron Thron doesn't. But we will see.
Dragon and the Wolf was nominated last year in stronger competition with The Crown and The Americans. And also Stranger Things was there, which is the most popular Emmy-nominated show after GoT.

It hasn't officially been posted on the website yet, but HBO just released a video featuring Dany's Beautiful Death poster for the finale. Go to 2:19 to see it.

Carice was submitted for guest actress btw. So I hope she at least gets nominated. GoldDerby doesn't think she will currently but It might get HBO to finally give her the cash to make the Garbo movie she's wanted to do forever.
